Confused about needing an emergency appointment? Five reasons to see our team at Chelsea Green Dental

6th April 2020

Woken up in the middle of the night with a toothache? Oh dear!

emergency-dental-appointment-chelseaWhat do you do? Take painkillers and hope it goes away? Or, do you call an out-of-hours emergency dental surgery before it gets worse?

Dental emergencies are common and, while many people panic when faced with one, there really is nothing to be concerned about. Many dental clinics operate an out-of-hours emergency service, meaning you won’t have to go too far to get rid of that pesky toothache.

While it is uncommon to be woken by dental pain, if you have joined Chelsea Green Dental Service, you have nothing to worry about. Our dedicated emergency dentist in Chelsea will be able to offer you an out-of-hours appointment, to get you out of pain and back on track as soon as possible.

But why else might you need to visit our emergency dentist in Chelsea? Read on to find out!

Swelling

OK, so we’ve all heard of it happening and may even have experienced it for ourselves; you get a toothache and your face swells up. Never a good look.

Even if you don’t have any dental pain and your face is swollen in the jaw, upper neck or cheek area, you need to book an appointment to see our emergency dentist in Chelsea. Swelling is indicative of an infection or impacted tooth; both conditions require urgent dental care and will get worse if left untreated.

Chips and cracks

Very common in children and those who engage in sports, cracked or chipped teeth are easy to fix, but require emergency treatment.

Even if the chip or crack is minor and you feel no discomfort, it is vital that you see a dental professional as soon as you can. Once again, leaving either a crack or chip untreated can lead to dental infections and even breakage of the tooth. It really isn’t worth it!

Loose tooth

If you notice one of your teeth is loose and you are past the age of seven, you need to see us.

Loose teeth are often symptomatic of severe gum disease or an issue with the jaw. Either way, losing teeth is never a good look and our team will endeavour to keep any loose teeth in your mouth, where they belong!

Lost fillings and crowns

It is an unfortunate fact that many fillings and crowns come loose, particularly the older metal based ones.

If you notice a lost filling or can feel one is loose, you should book an appointment with our emergency dental team. Restoring fillings and crowns is relatively straightforward and is much easier than treating a severely decayed or infected tooth.

Broken brace

Often overlooked, if you wear an orthodontic brace and it breaks or detaches from your tooth, you need to book an appointment for a temporary fix with our team and contact your orthodontist. Having a broken brace can, at best slow treatment and at worst, cause serious injuries to your mouth.

These are just a few indications of when you should contact our emergency dentist, remember we are here to help.
